Telehealth-  Therapy Comes to You

How Does Telehealth Work?

With technology, you can experience all the  benefits of in-person therapy on secure, easy to use, high-quality internet platforms. Online sessions allow you to do therapy in the comfort of your own home or allow you flexibility of environments that best suit you. It can be especially helpful to those who find it challenging to travel to an office for appointments due to  location, work, children at home, lifestyle or other practical or personal reasons.

How Does It Work?
While there are multiple ways that counseling can take place online, I work primarily with face-to-face video conferencing and, on occasion, telephone sessions.

I always hold my sessions in a quiet and confidential space, giving you the same confidentiality & professionalism that you experience within an office setting.

Some Tips for Successful Telehealth Sessions
  • Most, if not all, of my clients  find virtual sessions to be highly effective and convenient.
  • If you are not super-computer savvy or are anxious about how to use technology, I will work to make it as seamless as possible. I have chosen a platform that it is easy to use and I am happy to assist you with any questions or concerns.
  •  A common concern I hear from clients regarding online therapy is finding a quiet and/or confidential space when you’re homebound with children and/or family members or roommates.
  • Since it is so convenient many times people forget to allow themselves a few minutes to "switch hats" and allow yourself a few breaths and getting settled in to being present and in the head/body space for your session.
  • Headphones or ipods can often make audio clearer or ensure more privacy but are not necessary.
  • Given that video sessions can be conducted on your smartphone, clients have found it helpful to go to a park, sit in their car in the driveway, and/or walk around your neighborhood. Get creative and support yourself. Find a private space that allows you to  receive support no matter where you are.
  • You are welcome to have pets join your space if you find that comforting, supporting and may see my fellow feline/canine therapists join in one of our sessions on my end.
